MONTREAL It was ugly scene all around for the Bruins.Handed a chance to all but put away Montreal in the Northeast Division race, the Bruins instead gave the Canadiens life in a 4-1 loss Tuesday night at the Bell Centre. The game devolved into ugliness with 15.8 secondsremaining in the second period, when Zdeno Chara threw Max Paciorettyinto the boards by the benches and Pacioretty went headfirst into thestanchion with his neck taking the brunt of the blow. Pacioretty waswheeled off the ice on a stretcher, and Chara was slapped with afive-minute major and game misconduct for interference as a result. Its now been four games, and more than a calendar year, since the Bs last won in Montreal. The loss also ended an eight-game point streak for the Bruins thats propelled them climb toward the top of the Eastern Conference."We gave them the first two goals. I don't think they had to work very hard for the first two goals in our mind. That set us back," said coach Claude Julien. "We had some chances to get back in the game. We had some power plays. We just didn't capitalize."Tuukka Rask, given the surprise start in goal, looked shaky early, and both the young goaltender and the Boston defense got swarmed by a Montreal unit playing for its lives. Lars Eller scored a pair of goals in the first period to stake Montreal to a quick 2-0 lead the second of which was the result of a complete breakdown by both Johnny Boychuk and Rich Peverley and things unraveled from there.Brian Gionta scored on a high shot from the slot that trickled through Rasks pads before landing in the back of the net, and James Wisniewski beat him cleanly later in the period with a rifle shot under the crossbar.Milan Lucic added his 29th goal of the season in the third period to put Boston on the board, but the B's were simply never in the game.Joe Haggerty can be reached at jhaggerty@comcastsportsnet.com.
