BOSTON Patrice Bergeron continues to improve, according to Bruins coach Claude Julien, but Friday was another day off the ice for the concussed center and a pretty strong indicator that he'll miss Games 1 and 2 of the Eastern Conference finals.
There havent been any setbacks or disappointments as of yet with Bergeron, and the Bs continue to take heart in his healing trend. Still, they're moving forward organizationally as if he isnt going to play, as Chris Kelly and Gregory Campbell and Rich Peverley prepare to fill the various roles Bergeron plays.
Hes improving. He really is improving. We're optimistic about that, said Julien. We knew he was going to miss the start of series, but how much of it hes going to miss we cant tell you right now. Hes on the right track. Were just staying positive. Im not going to say much more because with concussions you have good news, you have setbacks, and you have all kinds of things that can happen. Right now hes moving in the right direction.Once Bergeron gets back on the ice things could move quickly, but hell have to experience seven straight days without concussion symptoms before any level of physical activity is introduced.
