Bruins-Capitals: Thoughts after one

Period One: Here are five thoughts from the first period with the Bruins and Capitals locked in a scoreless tie after the first 20 minutes from Game 5 at TD Garden.

1) Unrelated to the game, but anybody that thinks 25 games was a harsh penalty for Raffi Torres just doesnt get it.

2) Bruins with another 0-for-2 on the power play in the first period to bring them to 0-for-14 in the series. Bruins actually had some good looks in the first, but couldnt get anything to fall.

3) Two posts for the Bruins with Zdeno Chara ringing iron on a power play one-timer attempt and Daniel Paille also zinging one off the post after a shorthanded breakaway attempt. Bruins getting close, but still need to fight the frustration of failing to score.

4) Zdeno Chara took an elbow to the back of the head at the end of the first period from Jason Chimera. Things are getting a little nasty out there.

5) Patrice Bergeron, Chara, Marchand among players moving with plenty of hop and jump this afternoon against the Capitals. Bruins outhitting the Capitals by a 14-5 margin in the first period.

Cedric Maxwell thinks it would be okay for the Boston Celtics to trade a Nets pick for either Paul George or Jimmy Butler because they're probably better now than whoever gets drafted.
