    After losing Game 1 of Monday's doubleheader, the Red Sox exploded offensively. It was clear they needed to at least split the games on Monday, and they did just that.

    They may have dropped Game 1 of the doubleheader Monday, but the Sox responded by bashing 20 hits and scoring 18 runs in the 18-9 win over the Orioles.

    Forget the pitching, it appears that if the Sox are going to get into the playoffs, it'll be due to their hitting. They showed that tonight in the 18-9 win.

    Rookie Kyle Weiland wasn't sharp, and the Sox went down big early on. They tried to come back, but ultimately came up short in the 6-5 loss. Game 2 is Monday night.

    David Ortiz sees how well Alfredo Aceves is pitching in the reliever's role, and wonders why he isn't a starting pitcher at this stage in the season, as opposed to rookie Kyle Weiland, who got the loss.

    Nobody expected Kyle Weiland to pitch a complete-game shutout, but there were hopes he could keep them in it. Those hopes were dashed when the O's scored six runs before Weiland left after 4 23 innings.
