‘We should never forget' 911

Share

Tuesday was the 11-year anniversary of 911, and Bobby Valentine -- who was managing the New York Mets at the time -- has vivid memories of that time. Of the event itself, of the victims, of their families, and of the people who stepped in to help.

And Valentine will never forget.

"I continue to try to do everything I can," he said, "and I don't think it's enough."

He also believes baseball -- which resumed a week after the attacks -- helped heal the wounds of the nation in general and New York City in particular.

"I actually do, as crazy as that sounds," he said. "I think it did."
