Valentine: Trout 'is a special player'

BOSTON -- Tuesday was Valentines first time seeing presumptive American League Rookie of the Year Mike Trout in person. Trout went 2-for-4 with a walk and a run scored. You see SportsCenter or whatever the highlights are and hes always in them, Valentine said. Watching him last night, the first at-bat I thought, Oh well, hes human, and then after that he did things that are really special even though they didn't show up on the highlights. Hes a special player.Trout leads the AL with 39 stolen bases. He was thrown out attempting to steal second to end the ninth inning by Jarrod Saltalamacchia. It was just Trouts fourth time being caught. Its easy speed, Valentine said. It hasnt really stood out yet because he hasnt outrun any balls. Thats when it starts standing out.
