Tonight's Red Sox – Rays lineups: Sandoval, Pedroia out

Share

Fresh off a thrilling 8-7 victory over the Rays on Monday in which Xander Bogaerts put the Sox ahead 8-6 in the 8th inning with a grand slam, both teams return for the second game of the three-game series at Fenway Park.

It was the third win in a row for the Red Sox, all by one run, and all in comeback fashion, with the deciding run scoring in the eighth or ninth inning.

Both Dustin Pedroia and Pablo Sandoval are out of Tuesday's lineup, and it sounds like Sandoval may be out for an extended period of time with what Torey Lovullo is calling a "significant upper respiratory infection".

But Brock Holt is not filling in at either position, as Josh Rutledge is at second base and batting second and Deven Marrero is at third base and batting eighth.

David Ortiz, who hit his 499th and 500th home run off Matt Moore, is in batting cleanup as Moore takes the mound for the Rays.
