BOSTON - Allen Craig will get the start at first base for the Red Sox as they open a three-game series with the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday night (7:10) at Fenway Park in a matchup of last-place teams from the A.L. East and N.L. East.

Craig, acquired in the trade from the Cardinals last season in the trade that sent John Lackey to the Cardinals for Craig and right-hander Joe Kelly, rejoined the Red Sox from Triple-A Pawtucket when rosters expanded on Tuesday.

Kelly (8-6, 4.94 ERA), the first Red Sox pitcher since Pedro Martinez in 1999 to go 6-0 in a month after an unbeaten August, is on the mound for the Red Sox. He's opposed by right-hander Adam Morgan (5-4, 4.03).

Pablo Sandoval was a late scratch from the lineup. Travis Shaw starts at third base and bats fifth.

The outfield alignment for the second game in a row: Rusney Castillo is in left field, Mookie Betts in center and Jackie Bradley Jr. in right.
