Thursday's Red Sox-Orioles lineups: Kendrick makes Sox debut

Share

Kyle Kendrick makes his first major league start since 2015 as he replaces injured Steven Wright in the Red Sox rotation for the finale of their four-game series with the Baltimore Orioles tonight at Fenway Park.

Wright is out for the season after opting to have knee surgery.

Kendrick, 32, last in the majors with the Colorado Rockies in 2015, had a strong spring training but a not-so-strong first four starts at Triple-A Pawtucket (1-3, 6.00 ERA, seven homers allowed).

Josh Rutledge gets the start at third base, with both Marco Hernandez (shoulder) and Pablo Sandoval (knee) on the 10-day disabled list. Right-hander Tyler Wilson (1-1, 5.40 ERA) is on the mound for Baltimore.
