Talking Points: Red Sox 4, Blue Jays 1

BOSTON -- The talking points of the Red Sox' 4-1 victory over the Blue Jays on Wednesday:

STAR OF THE GAME: Rick Porcello
Porcello provided his third quality start of the season, allowing a single run on two hits over seven innings. After the second inning, when the Jays scored their only run, just two batters reached base the rest of the way against him.

HONORABLE MENTION: Hanley Ramirez
Ramirez's torrid week continued as he drove a pitch from R.A. Dickey into the seats in the third, snapping a 1-1 tie. He struck out in his other three at-bats, but his one big swing was all the Sox needed in support of Porcello.

GOAT OF THE GAME: Jose Bautista
Joey Bats ended Toronto innings on three separate occasions, making the last out in each as the Toronto offense stalled with just three hits.

TURNING POINT:
After the Sox took a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the third -- and given how poorly Red Sox starters had responded to the challenges of a "shut-down inning'' of late -- there was some anxiety about how the top of the fourth would unfold. But Porcello was aggressive and retired the Jays in order on just nine pitches, relieving any fears.

BY THE NUMBERS: 10
The 10 homers for Ramirez in April are the most he's hit in any single month since he also hit 10 while with the Marlins in June of 2008.
