STAR OF THE GAME: Shane Victorino
Victorino did it all and reminded everyone why the Red Sox have stuck with him. Victorino was 2-for-3 with a walk and homer at the plate, and in the field, he made a tremendous running catch that resulted in an inning-ending double play in the seventh.
HONORABLE MENTION: Joe Kelly
Kelly was lifted in the seventh with one out, but gave the Red Sox a quality start, relying more on his fastball down in the strike zone to get groundouts rather than trying to strike everyone out.
GOAT OF THE GAME: Rickie Weeks
Weeks made two gaffes in left field in the ninth. First, after cutting off a single in the gap by Holt, he lollipopped a throw into the infield, allowing Holt to reach second. Then, he dropped a routine fly ball as the winning run scored.
TURNING POINT: Victorino's standout defensive play in the seventh kept the game tied.
Boston Red Sox
BY THE NUMBERS: The double by Hanley Ramirez in the sixth inning was his first non-homer extra-base hit of the season.
