Talking Points: Rays 5, Red Sox 1

STAR OF THE GAME: Jake Odorizzi

Odorizzi surrendered consecutive triples in the second inning to account for a run, but that was the only damage done against him all night. He had to pitch out of same jams at times, but did no masterfully, stranding Red Sox baserunners in every inning but one.

HONORABLE MENTION: David DeJesus

DeJesus twice delivered run-scoring singles -- one in the first, scoring Evan Longoria with a ground ball single to right and another time in the seventh when he hit the ball to the same spot and delivered Steven Souza Jr.

GOAT OF THE GAME: Clay Buchholz

No, it wasn't as bad as his last start, when he failed to get out of the third inning. And yes, he did seem to settle down some from the third inning through the seventh. But that doesn't eliminate the fact that he put his team behind 4-0 before the Sox came to the plate a second time.

TURNING POINT: In the sixth inning, trailing 4-1, the Red Sox put runners on first and second with no out. But a quick double play by Pablo Sandoval sapped the momentum and when Mike Napoli flied to right, the Sox came out of the inning without a run.

BY THE NUMBERS: Tampa Bay manager Kevin Cash lost a replay challenge on a caught stealing in the fourth inning and is now 0-for-11 in such challenges this season.
