Talking Points: Porcello outpitches Hernandez

Sean McAdam shares his talking points from the Boston Red Sox' 4-2 victory over the Seattle Mariners.

STAR OF THE GAME: Rick Porcello

Porcello has been on a bit of a roll over his last four starts and he clearly outpitched Felix Hernandez, getting into the seventh inning. His only mistakes were two solo homers allowed to Brad Miller.

HONORABLE MENTION: Blake Swihart

In addition to guiding Porcello through his start, Swihart had two hits - a single in the second and a run-scoring double off Hernandez in the sixth.

GOAT OF THE GAME: Felix Hernandez

Hernandez wasn't ghastly by any means, but he wasn't himself, either, tagged with his first loss of the season and allowing four runs in six innings of work.

TURNING POINT: After Brad Miller had homered for the second time off Porcello, the Sox responded by scoring twice in the top of the sixth.

BY THE NUMBERS: The Red Sox now have a stretch of four consecutive quality starts from their starters, the longest such string of the season.
