The Red Sox stuck close to home with their fourth round pick in the MLB First Year Player draft, selecting right-hander Kevin McAvoy from Bryant University.
McAvoy just completed his junior year at Bryant and posted some impressive numbers.
In 15 starts for the Bulldogs last season, he compiled a 9-1 record with a 2.62 ERA. He struck out 94 batters and walked only 28 in 99.1 innings.
In 40 career starts, McAvoy is 21-5 with a 3.11 ERA and six complete games.
