BOSTON - The Boston Red Sox are hoping to turn their ballparkinto a skating rink again next winter in a repeat of last year's FrozenFenway. And maybe a football field, too.Fenway hosted the NHL's Winter Classic on New Year's Day 2010. Thenthe rink was used for a series of men's and women's college hockeygames. At Mayor Tom Menino's urging, the Red Sox also gave local youthteams and city residents a chance to skate on the ice. It's unlikely the NHL would come back to Fenway so soon, but Red Soxchief operating officer Sam Kennedy told Menino on Wednesday that theteam would like to have college hockey games. The mayor wasenthusiastic in his support.Kennedy said the team was also exploring the possibility of a college football game.
