On May 18th, Ben Cherington sounded pretty convinced that Xander Bogaerts could play the shortstop position.

Now, Stephen Drew is on the roster, but currently out of the lineup.

Michael Silverman joined Sports Tonight to discuss the move that brought the veteran shortstop into the fold.

"I do think they had a little bit of a panic when Will Middlebrooks got hurt" said Silverman. "I don't think there was some conspiracy and Larry [Lucchino] forced this down Ben's [Cherington] throat."

"They made a misjudgment, didn't they? Stephen Drew is not ready. It boggles my mind that they want this guy for $10 million and are going to sit him against lefties. He's a good shortstop, he's not the savior, by any means for this team."
