Saturday's Red Sox – Blue Jays lineups

Share

The Red Sox and Blue Jays are set to face off in the second game of their three-game series Saturday afternoon. The Sox are coming off a 6-1 loss to the Jays Friday night, and have dropped three of their last four games. They are, however, 8-5 in their last 13 games.

Pablo Sandoval sits for the second straight game as Brock Holt takes his place at third base.

Jackie Bradley Jr., despite a 1-for-30 slump, will get the start in center field today. Torey Lovullo said Friday night that he's due for a day off, but not because of the slump he's in. Regardless, it wouldn't be a surprise to see him out of Sunday's lineup unless he locks back in at the plate today.

Mookie Betts remains in right field for the second straight game, and it makes sense to keep playing him against the Jays. Betts is 27-for-64 (.422) against Toronto this season. His 27 hits are the most by any Toronto opponent in 2015. He's hit in 18 straight games against the Blue Jays dating back to Sept. 5, 2014 (.421, 32-for-76), the majors’ longest active hit streak against the Jays.

Betts will look to continue haunting the Jays against R.A. Dickey, who gets the start against the Sox for the sixth time this season. They are 3-2 in games he's started, and his record against the Sox is 0-2.

Dustin Pedroia is back at second base and batting second.
