Bob Ryan joined Arbella Early Edition to look in a crystal ball and see the future of the Boston Red Sox.
Will Tom Werner be MLB's next commissioner?
"I'm certain he's a legitimate candidate," said Ryan. "He's a darkhorse candidate, he's a real surprise. I know he's down to one of three. He's certainly three in the pecking order."
Who will be the Red Sox best starter in 2015?
"I don't know who the import is going to be," said Ryan. "We assume there will be one or two imports. They're going to be shelling out some free agent bucks or making a trade. If they do bring in Cole Hamels by packaging people, fine. But until that point, I'm sorry, but it's Rubby De La Rosa."
Ryan explained why he expects big things from De La Rosa.
"What don't I like about him?" asked Ryan. "He throws hard, he throws strikes, he's got mound presence. I think he's everything we were told he was when he came over in that Dodger trade."
Will Stanton become a member of the Red Sox?
"There are about 28 teams that would find a way, they would be willing to discuss a package for Stanton," said Ryan. "It's up to the Marlins to decide the classic question, do we trade our best player in hopes of getting better? Or trade our best player and do something stupid here?"
"I don't know if the Red Sox will be the team to have the most attractive package, if they even decide to trade him."
