Report: Youkilis likely to have surgery Tuesday

Kevin Youkilis is likely to have surgery for his sports hernia on Tuesday, according to Rob Bradford of WEEI.

The third baseman finished the season hitting .258.373.459 with 17 home runs, but hit only .199.314.346 in 37 appearances after the All-Star break. He was transferred to the 60-day DL before the last game of the season.

Youkilis will meet with doctors to discuss other options first, but if he does undergo surgery, he is expected to resume physical activity after 4-6 weeks.
