Report: Mother claims Valentine-backed team owes money

Like Bobby Valentine doesn't have enough on his mind as it is. Now it looks like a youth "All-American" baseball team he supported owes families money.

According to the New York Post, a Texas mother says she has been trying for six months to get a refund from the All-American Athletic Foundation in Stamford, Conn.

Tryouts were held last fall for the Valentine-backed team that would have traveled the country this summer, but the foundation went quiet soon after.

From the NY Post:
Valentine told The Post in March he would make good on the 475 tryout fees. He left the foundation last fall when he became the Boston Red Sox manager.

But Valentine said Friday that refunds were up to Greenwich, Conn., developer Joseph Beninati, who started the foundation in 2009.

My name was on the line and I said I would step in, but its his responsibility, Valentine said.

The Post got no comment from Beninati.
