CLEVELAND -- Coming off Daisuke Matsuzakas third rehab start with Pawtucket on Friday where he pitched 4 23 innings and 89 pitches, the Sox will be looking for seven innings out of the Japanese right-handed in his next Triple-A start. Matsuzaka has put up a 2.70 ERA in 10 innings over three separate rehab stints with the PawSox, and appears to be well on his way to returning from the right upper trapezius strain that landed him on the 15-day disabled list.

I texted Matsuzaka and he feels healthy, said Valentine.

Rich Hill is scheduled to throw an inning of relief rehab work for the Gulf Coast League Sox in Fort Myers on Monday. Hill has been on the DL since suffering a left elbow strain back on June 9.

Adrian Gonzalez leads all Major League players with 35 RBIs since the All-Star break after entering Sunday trailing San Francisco Giants catcher Buster Posey.

Major League Baseball players do all kinds of interesting things on their few off-days on the road during the regular season. Dustin Pedroia finished a quick conversation with the media after Sunday afternoons win by telling all of the media to enjoy their off days. Where was Pedroia going for his off day? Im going to the moon . . . I dont know, said Pedroia as he carried his travel bag out of the visiting clubhouse in Cleveland. The Sox second baseman has earned a day off after hitting .467 during an eight-game hitting streak that has lifted his batting average to .278.
