Red Sox general manager Ben Cherington denied a foxsports.com report that the Sox have contacted other teams to gauge interest in left fielder Carl Crawford.

Theres nothing going on with Carl, Cherington told foxsports.com's Ken Rosenthal. Hes our left fielder and were glad to have him back in our lineup.

Rosenthal said sources told him the Sox had contacted the Marlins and Dodgers about Crawford, although another source said there were no talks with L.A.

Crawford, who played his first game of the year Monday after being hampered by wristelbowhamstring problems, is in the second year of a seven-year, 142 million contract.
