BOSTON -- Quotes, notes and stars from the Red Sox' 11-7 win over the San Francisco Giants:

QUOTES:

"The plan was for him to pitch the eighth; I didn't know he was going to pitch the sixth and seventh innings (too).'' - John Farrell on Matt Barnes.

"Everytime I get hit, that fires me up. That makes me a better player because I get angry. Sometimes, Hanley's not Hanley. It's somebody else.'' - Hanley Ramirez, on gaining revenge against reliever Albert Suarez by hitting his third homer.

"Don't ask me that. That's a secret. But I'll tell you later what I said.'' - Ramirez, when asked if he said "I'll get you back'' to Suarez after being hit.

"In a situation like that, you have to take it one pitch at a time. You can't try to do too much or make the second one before you make the first one. You have to stay relaxed and execute pitch-to-pitch and hopefully the results in your favor.'' - Matt Barnes, on coming into a bases-loaded, no-out jam in the sixth.

STARS:

1) Hanley Ramirez

It's hard to think of a player having a better night. Ramirez hit three homers -- one to left, one to center, one to right -- and knocked in a career-best six runs. But he also contributed several nice plays at first, including a 3-2 double-play that cut down a runner at the plate and preserved what was then a one-run lead.

2) Matt Barnes

Barnes turned in three scoreless innings on a night when it seemed the Red Sox were incapable of sending a pitcher to the mound who could get anyone out.

3) Sandy Leon

After a mini-slump (1-for-8), Leon returned with a hot bat, swatting a homer and a triple and knocking in two runs.
