BOSTON -- Quotes, notes and stars from the Red Sox’ 6-2 win over the Mariners:

QUOTES

* “I felt like I had a better feel for everything as the game went along . . . As the game progressed I felt like I was able to settle in, get a feel and keep some guys off balance.” - Rick Porcello on how he felt as his outing progressed.

* “Well he’s a contact pitcher and he does have the ability to get a strikeout. When he’s not creating more traffic on the base paths by himself, he’s going to force them to bunch some hits together. They were doing that early, but absent of any walks. That’s probably the difference in just the single runs allowed” - John Farrell said on the importance of Porcello not walking any Seattle hitters in his outing.

* “Yeah, I saw that he was really [far] back and we have a scouting report on everybody’s arm. You’ve got to keep all of that in your mind.” - Hanley Ramirez said on why he knew he was going to score from second once the ball got by Ketel Marte.

* “Every at-bat, every pitch, every inning. This is Boston, Sox Nation, they bring a lot of energy to every game.” - Ramirez said about the energy he feels from the crowd at Fenway Park.

* “Of course, it helps get me back on track and get my confidence up.” - Christian Vazquez on how the hit and run call in the fifth helped lead to his double in the sixth.

NOTES

* Rick Porcello earned his sixth win in his sixth start at home. He’s the first to do so since Tim Wakefield did it in 2009 and just the second Red Sox starter to do so since Roger Clemens did in 1986.

* David Ortiz has reached base safely in his last 22 homes games, logging a hit in 20 of them -- including his last 13.

* Boston is 31-2 when leading after the sixth inning. The bullpen has a 1.45 ERA in 31 innings over since June 5th.

* The Red Sox won their first game in June where the opposing team scored first, improving to 1-7 in those circumstances.
