Quotes, notes and stars from the Boston Red Sox' 4-2 loss to the Cleveland Indians:

QUOTES

* "Home runs are going to happen. But I think we all look to what leads up those. He probably puts himself in a bit of a corner, with less margin for error, with men on base.'' - John Farrell on Clay Buchholz's propensity to give up multi-run homers.

* "I don't know if it's focus; it's a matter of falling behind in the count and the walks are factoring in. We're working to get him over that hump.'' - Farrell on Buchholz.

* "The most impressive thing is that he's driving the baseball very good...He's in a dangerous position right now at the plate. He's seeing the ball well and putting good swings on multiple types of pitches.'' - Farrell on Jackie Bradley Jr.

* "All in all, it wasn't a terrible outing. But it's hard to swallow getting beat on home runs every time out.'' - Buchholz.

* "I feel good, it's just a matter of getting away from that big inning.'' - Buchholz.

NOTES:

* Jackie Bradley Jr. extended his hitting streak to 25 games with a second-inning homer.

* Bradley's streak is the longest for a Red Sox player in the same season since Dustin Pedroia had a 25-gamer in 2011.

* Bradley's homer means the Red Sox have homered in 20 straight games, a new franchise record

* Matt Barnes has managed to strand 13-of-14 inherited runners this season.

* Xander Bogaerts, meanwhile, has the second-longest hitting streak in the majors behind his teammate -- Bogaerts is at 14 games, a career-high.

* The two runs by the Red Sox were the fewest in a home game since April 19, more than a month ago.

* Since the start of 2015, the Red Sox are 13-7 when facing a former Cy Young Award winner (Kluber, in this case).

STARS:

1) Corey Kluber

After being touched for solo runs in both the first and second, Kluber shut the Red Sox out for the final five innings he pitched and allowed just one hit in that span.

2) Jason Kipnis

With one swing of the bat, Kipnis delivered three runs, taking Clay Buchholz out to right, providing the only runs the Indians would need.

3) Francisco Lindor

Lindor had two hits, two walks and an artful slide at home to elude a tag by catcher Christian Vazquez in the four-run third.
