It's tough being the champs. It's tough being a team everyone's out to de-throne.
David Ortiz knows it better than most and shares his thoughts with Jessica Moran in a one-on-one interview.
"I’ve been seeing this for a long time," says Ortiz. "You see a guy that’s struggling, [but] the minute he comes to face the Red Sox he brings his ‘A’ game. We see the best out of everybody."
That makes things even tougher when your team is struggling.
"We never give up," says Ortiz. "We keep playing the game every day."
Team-leaders Ortiz and Dustin Pedroia shoulder a lot of the responsibility for turning the team's luck around. Unfortunately, things haven't been going well for the dynamic duo, but the stars are showing signs of breaking out of their respective funks.
"Pedey’s been swinging the bat pretty good," says Ortiz. "Look at [Thursday] night, he hit three rockets."
And Ortiz knows his own fortunes are about to turn around.
"[I've been hitting the ball pretty hard]. There’s nothing else you can do after you put a good swing on it. It gets kind of frustrating at some point. Hopefully it will change."
The season's fortunes pretty much hang in the balance.
