Orioles clip Red Sox, 4-3

BALTIMORE -- One-run games haven't exactly been the Red Sox' (17-20) strong suit this season. The Baltimore Orioles (27-9), meanwhile, seem to thrive on them.

Was it any surprise, then, that the Orioles eeked out a 4-3 victory at Camden Yards Saturday, and in the process, pulling themselves into a first-place tie with the New York Yankees with four games to go.

Rookie third baseman Manny Machado homered to left to lead off the seventh inning, snapping a 3-3 tie. The homer came off Felix Doubront, who fanned 10, giving him back-to-back double-figure strikeout starts. Doubront fanned 11 last Sunday.
