What does the future hold for Red Sox ace Jon Lester?

With the 30-year-old headed to free agency at the end of the season, Bob Neumeier suggested the Red Sox should "entertain" the idea of trading him.

"Figuring that he's a goner, that he's not going to sign a long-term contract here," said Neumeier. "There are really only two options. Number one, you let him go and you get the draft pick. Or number two, you try to trade Jon Lester before that happens. Again, in some package or for some, in my opinion, in some big bopper that's out there that's going to infuse some offense in the lineup." 

Both Lou Merloni and Sean McAdam disagree with Neumeier.

"You got to do everything you can to sign him," said Merloni. "You've got to sign this guy. Because even if you get the bat, now you're going to be without an arm."

"Why wouldn't you want to move the young pitchers rather than Jon Lester?" asked McAdam. "
