The Red Sox have been looking for someone to step up for the starting rotation.
After two starts with the Major League club, Eduardo Rodriguez has done just that, putting up a 0.61 ERA and a .102 opponent batting average.
"What you're seeing is a guy that attacks. Power fastball, he's locating it, there's a game plan," said Lou Merloni on Arbella Early Edition. "The changeup was fascinating. That thing was outstanding. What I loved, not just that he executed it, it was how he got to it many times… The setup, the execution, you should be excited about this guy.
Will things be different when lineups get a chance to see him two or three times?
"He's got enough tools in that toolbox to handle it, because he's got confidence in three pitches," continued Merloni. "This is the thing, every prospect that we heard about that's come up here, none of them have had a third pitch. None of them. It's fastball, changeup and that's it. Or it's fastball, curveball and that's it. This guy has legit three pitches."
