The dust has settled on trade deadline day, and the Red Sox sent several players on their way.
In the biggest deal of the day, the Sox sent Jon Lester and Jonny Gomes to the Oakland Athletics for Yoenis Cespedes.
Lou Merloni voiced his concern over the deal on Arbella Early Edition.
"How are they a better team?" asked Merloni. "I want to know how long they're going to sign this guy for. He's a one-year deal. Is he going to walk after a year?"
Merloni expected the Red Sox to get something a little different in a deal for Lester.
"I get it, the guy was going to go, at least you got something for him," added Merloni. "I just felt like the return on Lester was going to be someone that's going to help you for four or five years…That one still doesn't make sense."
