In his first two starts, John Lackey was sharp, poised, in control.
"He had pitched very well in those first two outings," says CSNNE Red Sox Insider Sean McAdam.
Against the Yankees on Saturday, however, it was a different story.
"You can’t make mistakes in a ballpark like this, and Lackey made at least three of them... He paid for those mistakes today.”
The Yankees teed tattooed Lackey for four home runs.
On the injury front, McAdam expects more information to be available on Koji Uehara's shoulder in the next 24-36 hours.
The plan right now is for Uehara to play long toss before Sunday's series finale against the Yankees.
"I still think there’s a very good chance, as a precaution, they send him back to Boston to be examined, make sure there’s nothing structurally going on with that shoulder," says McAdam. "They don’t think that’s the case, but given their investment in him and how important he is to this team, they want to make sure. If there’s any doubt, you’ve got to believe they’re going to put him on the DL. They can’t go much longer a man short. If it’s going to take at least a couple of weeks, we might as well start that DL clock rolling now."
