While the Red Sox have succeeded since the departure of A.J. Pierzynski, his name is still swirling around the team.
With multiple sources going to the media to complain about Pierzynski, Bob Neumeier described it as a "smear campaign."
Tony Massarotti wants the team to stop badmouthing their former teammate and play baseball.
"You know what I would have said to them? Tell you what, shut up and hit," said Massarotti. "Instead of blaming Pierzynski, why don't you get a few hits? Did you ever think of that?"
He also implied that it was one of the team's veterans that criticized the former Sox catcher.
"I don't think it's Bradley, he's a rookie, he's not going to go in and do that. It's not going to be Bogaerts, it's not going to be any of the young guys. "
