Since his retirement in 2010, former Boston Red Sox third baseman Mike Lowell has been making the most of his extra time. After his 13 years in the majors, he has been relishing time spent with his family and friends.
Lowell is on the other side of the fence now, coaching the Texas Rangers, a six-and-under team in Miami.
"They're trying hard. After about 10 minutes they fight in the dirt a lot," he told WBZ-TV's Dan Roche. "They don't really pay attention to the game. That might be the coach's fault."
Despite his former team's difficulties with the major league Texas Rangers, the 37-year-old isn't worried yet.
"As a player I didnt pay too much attention to it," Lowell said. "I think everyones put monster expectations on the team. They have very good players, they're going to be fine. Itll be interesting to see how the season plays out."
