BOSTON - A familiar second-half formula carried the Red Sox to a victory Friday night -- strong starting pitching and plenty of offensive support from the team's core of young players.

Joe Kelly won his seventh straight start, allowing just two runs over six innings while Mookie Betts, Xander Bogaerts and Jackie Bradley combined for five hits and four RBI as the Red Sox dusted the Philadelphia Phillies, 7-5.

For the sixth straight start, Kelly allowed two runs or fewer. He blanked the Phils through the first three innings before getting into a jam in the fourth with two infield hits, a hit batsman, a walk and a couple of stolen bases.

It marked the 31st time in the last 32 games that a Red Sox starter had gone at least five innings, a streak that had been halted Wednesday with Henry Owens' poor outing against the Yankees.

Six relievers combined for the final nine outs. Jean Machi, given another chance in the ninth inning, got the first two outs before allowing four straight hitters to reach, resulting in three runs. Robbie Ross Jr. had to come in for the final out.

Betts had two doubles to add to his team lead of 33, and knocked in a run while scoring two. Xander Bogaerts posted his 46th multi-hit game and knocked in two. Bradley, meanwhile, hit a rocket into the center field bleachers for his seventh homer of the season.

Of Bradley's last 23 hits, 17 have gone for extra bases.

David Ortiz supplied another run with a line drive missile to  straightaway center in the four-run seventh. Brock Holt produced the other run with a sacrifice fly.
