If it's Truck Day, spring can't be far behind for Red Sox

Sure, we mock Truck Day. Like this guy here.

We kid because we care.

But you can’t stop Truck Day. The calendar turns and, like a snowstorm, it rolls in, carrying the Red Sox equipment from Fenway Park for the 1,400-mile trip to spring training to Fort Myers, Fla. Like spring, the truck will arrive and it will be warm again. There and here.

Tuesday was Truck Day. Bundled up Red Sox again fans watched the truck loaded with, among other things, 20,400 baseballs,1,100 bats, 160 game jerseys, 20 cases of bubble gum and 60 cases of sunflower seeds as it began its three-day journey.

So, the truck arrives Saturday. Pitchers and catchers report on Feb. 18 (although some are already there).

The Red Sox open in Cleveland April 4 and will be back at Fenway 61 days from now, April 11.
