The blockbuster trade between the Detroit Tigers and Texas Rangers that sent first baseman Prince Fielder to Texas for second baseman Ian Kinsler could impact Red Sox free agents Mike Napoli and Jacoby Ellsbury, Red Sox insider Sean McAdam reports.

The deal that puts Fielder at first base for the Rangers likely takes away Texas as a landing spot for Napoli, who was rumored to have drawn interest from the Rangers, for whom Napoli played before joining the Red Sox last winter.

And because the Rangers "don't have room for another big free agent splash," McAdam says, and because of the $138 million they're taking on in Fielder, the trade likely takes Ellsbury off Texas' radar. The center fielder is likely to command $100 million or more in a long-term deal from his free agent suitors.
