The Red Sox are in the third day of the post-Pierzynski era.
On Arbella Early Edition, Andy Gresh reminded Gary Tanguay that many believed that the veteran catcher's tenure with the Sox would be a "disaster."
"He did it to himself," said Gresh. "Maybe not a disaster, that may be a little strong, but there's a reason the guy's gone. You don't need to be Fellini to know the ending of the A.J. Pierzynski film. It just wasn't going to work here."
Could things have been different for Pierzynski?
"If they were 51-39 heading into today, A.J. Pierzynski would be on this team right now, he isn't for a reason," continued Gresh. "This is a part of turning the page. To me, this is significant because this is the general manager saying, 'yo, my bad. It didn't work out.'"
