Just last week Marc Bertrand on 98.5 The Sports Hub was questioning David Ortiz's motivation after he calmly responded to questions about his struggles when in the past he would have fired back at the question.
In piece by John Tomase of WEEI.com, Ortiz gave the reaction everyone was looking for.
"I’m not washed up. I guarantee you that. I can wake up and hit, bro. That’s my nature. I’m not washed up," said Ortiz. "I was asked on camera the other day if I was washed up. And I pretty much didn’t react to it, but I thought that was very disrespectful."
Chris Gasper of the Boston Globe isn't surprised to see a reaction like this from Ortiz find it's way into a story after the cameras weren't on him.
"You said he's given up, he doesn't care anymore. I told you he reacted that way because the cameras were on him," said Chris Gasper on Arbella Early Edition. "What he really wanted to do was what he did with John Tomase, which was drop a couple expletives in there and tell everyone to screw.
"The guy still does care. That was not an indication that he didn't care. It was an indication that he was not going to do that on camera at that point."
