CSNNE Red Sox Analyst and former Red Sox infielder Lou Merloni has his checklist for fixing the struggling Sox, who came into their series with the Rays having lost seven in a row.

The lineup: "I like Xander Bogaerts in the two hole [where he hit Friday]. To be honest, I'd hit him third between Pedroia and Ortiz," Merloni said.

Center field: "They need a major league center fielder. We all love Jackie Bradley Jr.'s defense but he's struggling at the plate," Merloni said. "How about Emilio Bonifacio in Chicago [with the Cubs]. A .295 hitter, he can steal a few bags, even hit leadoff."

Pitching: "Brandon Workman is coming up [to start Sunday]. I like that. [Reliever] Edwin Mujica has struggled. Alex Wilson comes up [from Pawtucket]. Maybe he stays...," Merloni said. "This is their strength [young pitching]. Maybe you go 6-1 in a seven-start stretch [for Workman]. Catch lightning in a bottle."

David Ross the personal catcher for Jon Lester? "Yes. Listen, opinions form," Merloni said. "I just don't think he's comfortable with A.J.[Pierzynski] behind the dish. I put a lot of this on John Farrell...David Ross is his catcher. If the guy is lights out with David Ross, just leave him out there."
