When David Price got the good news after his visit with Dr. James Andrews last week, he said he wasn't putting a timetable on his return to the field, despite the initial diagnosis of rest for 7-10 days.
It appears that timetable is set after Red Sox manager John Farrell told reporters Wednesday that Price will throw Friday or Saturday, if he feels up to it.
It'll be a big test obviously and, if all goes well, the delay shouldn't hinder Price significantly as he builds toward his first spring training start. A positive throwing session would also take the spotlight off Price's recent pointed comments to the Boston Globe about Red Sox fans.
