Farrell: Pedroia (knee) has made ‘really good strides' over past week

BOSTON — Dustin Pedroia’s slated to stay behind when the Red Sox go to Cleveland on Monday for the start of a four-game series, a positive sign for the second baseman who’s trying to make it back from a left knee injury.

“He’s improving,” Sox manager John Farrell said. “The strength and conditioning that he’s going through, along with treatment, there’s been some really good strides made over this past week.

“We’re hopeful that baseball activities are coming in the early part of this coming week.”

Pedroia could see some time at DH upon his expected return as he manages the knee condition.
