Dombrowski: I think our major moves are done, but . . .

Front-of-the-rotation starting pitcher? Check. Top closer? Check. Fourth outfielder? Check.

It's only the first week of December, but already, Red Sox president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski believes he accomplished what he needed to this off-season.

In signing free agent starter David Price and outfielder Chris Young and trading for Craig Kimbrel, the Sox have addressed their major needs.

All nine positions -- DH included -- are spoken for, and the club has Young and Brock Holt as versatile bench options, to go along with Travis Shaw and backup catcher Ryan Hanigan.

"I feel good about the roster as it is,'' said Dombrowski in a conference call with reporters. "If you look at the club, I think we've been able to address, from a positional player perspective, really our biggest need - looking for a fourth outfielder and a guy who can play quite a bit for us in Chris's case, with the three young (outfielders) have.

"I think our positional players are basically set. You can always get better. We'll be open-minded going to the winter meetings. We'll see what happens over the next few days, leading into that. I think our major moves are done, but when you go to the winter meetings, you can never tell what happens.''

The one area the Sox could seek to bolster still: the bullpen.

With Kimbrel closing and Koji Uehara and Junichi Tazawa holding down the primary set-up roles, the team also has lefties Robbie Ross Jr. and Tommy Layne under control, as well as righty Matt Barnes and perhaps rookie Pat Light.
