The Jon Lester-to-the-Dodgers rumors began circulating this weekend, but the wind may be calming behind its sails.
Fox' Jon Morosi reported via Twitter on Monday that the Phillies have made Cole Hamels available on trade market, although price remains high. And then came the two words that may keep Lester in Boston, or at least out of Los Angeles: Dodgers interested.
Two things to note here:
1. Hamels is under contract through 2018, while Lester is a two-month rental, and
2. The Red Sox apparently don't want Matt Kemp, whom the Dodgers are trying to send to them in a Lester deal.
All that being the case, it stands to reason Los Angeles would turn its attention to Hamels as it attempts to bolster its pitching staff.
