We all know that Deion Sanders knows his football. When the NFL Network analyst and Hall of Fame cornerback, who once dabbled in baseball, joined Michael Felger and Tony Massarotti on Felger & Mazz from the Super Bowl, it was a Boston baseball icon that was on his mind.
Before getting into any football talk, Sanders wanted to know: "What's up with Big Papi?"
David Ortiz, entering the final year of two-year deal he signed last offseason, is grousing about wanting a longer-term deal from the Red Sox.
"Why can't you guys just sign him?" Sanders asked.
"Because he's 47 years old!" Felger joked.
"We should never question the man until there is something there to question," Sanders said. "Never say anything about a man's age until he shows you he can't produce. He's great for the community. He's great for the team. So, what's the problem?"
