With the NBA Draft just days away, Tim Welsh joins Dalen Cuff on SportsNet Central to discuss draft day strategies and more.
Welsh says at this point every team will have a particular game plan that they'll hope to stick to, but a lot of it goes out the window once the picks start coming in.
"Really a lot of it is varied on what the teams do in front of them and maybe last-second phone calls from other teams."
Draft plans can also be upended when players surprisingly fall in the draft, often as a result of rumors, suggestions or injuries.
Just two years ago the Celtics were thrilled when Jared Sullinger fell to them at No. 21. Sullinger had been projected as a Top-10 pick, but back concerns caused him to tumble.
Joel Embiid could be that player this year. Embiid had been projected as the possible overall No. 1 pick, but after having surgery to repair a foot injury, his fate has clouded.
Welsh has more on the NBA draft and dealing with NBA agents.
