After being greeted by a standing ovation when he took the floor for the first time, ex-Celtics coach Doc Rivers, now coach of the Los Angeles Clippers, was honored with a video tribute at the TD Garden at the end of the first quarter as the Clippers faced the Celtics in Rivers' first visit to Boston since talking over in L.A.

The crowd gave Rivers another standing ovation as the tribute played on the Jumbotron.

Rivers, who wiped away a tear when introduced to rousing applause before the game, welled up with tears again, waved to the crowd and said "thank you" as highlights of his nine seasons as Celtics coach were shown on the screen, including the 2008 NBA title run, complete with the famous Gatorade bath after the title-clinching Game 6 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers.
