The Celtics had their eyes on Marcus Smart and James Young before the NBA Draft.

Coach Brad Stevens was excited at the idea of having Marcus Smart in Boston.

"Everyone that's around him loves what he brings to the table every single day," said Stevens. "He's obviously a great defender, but I also think he's a better ball handler, passer and shooter than maybe people realize. We had him ranked really high. We were crossing our fingers that he'd be there at six."

The Celtics coach was equally enthusiastic about the No. 17 pick, James Young.

"He's another guy that you're crossing your fingers that he might be available." said Stevens. "We thought he was a lottery pick… another remarkable short career at Kentucky, but certainly a guy we think highly of."
