Did Rajon Rondo's birthday shenaningans put him in that select group of much-maligned Boston athletes?
Rondo apparently didn't have permission to stay in Los Angeles to celebrate his 28th birthday while the rest of the Celtics played in Sacramento on Saturday night.
On Arbella Early Edition, after listening to Celtics coach Brad Stevens, Gary Tanguay theorized that Rondo didn't have permission to not be with the team. Rondo wasn't going to play anyway because it was the second night of a back-to-back. Rondo has been sitting those out as he recovers from knee sugery.
"Is he Rajon Rondo the new Josh Beckett. Is he the new Manny Ramirez. Is he the new Tyler Seguin?" Tanguay asked.
Fred Toucher, of 98.5 The Sports Hub's "Toucher & Rich" morning show said Rondo was already in that category for some fans. He thinks the birthday flap might just be a misunderstanding.
"I don't know if he ignored team instructions or if they were idling on the runway saying 'Where's Rondo?'" Toucher said. "I don't know."
