Rajon Rondo made his much anticipated return to the court on Friday night.

It was a big night for Rondo in many ways, but finding out he would be the new captain of the Boston Celtics was completely unexpected.

The 27-year-old admitted he didn't find out until the public address announcer was announcing the starting lineups.

"That's when I found out, when you found out." joked Rondo, "It really didn't hit me at first, I was trying to lock in… I didn't really have a lot of time to take it in, I just wanted to get out there and play to the best of my ability."

After the game, Rondo was able to reflect on what an honor it is to be the team's newest captain.

"It's definitely an honor, following Paul Pierce who was our last captain and held the 'C' for a long time." continued Rondo, "So, It's definitely something that I'm proud of.

"At the end of the day, it's not just me as a leader, it's going to take a lot of guys to lead this team."

Rondo put up 8 points and 4 assists in 19 minutes for the Celtics against the Lakers.

"I felt good, I felt pretty good." said Rondo, "When I got back in the second quarter I felt pretty winded, that was expected.  Other than that, I didn't feel like I was limited tonight."

When it comes to his minutes limit, Rondo would try to stay ready at all times.

"Even though I sat for a while, I tried to stay ready mentally, pay attention to the game"
