Kelly Olynyk turned heads at Summer League, and rookies around the NBA have taken notice.

The 13th overall pick ranked highly in the NBA.com Rookie Survey conducted this month with 36 incoming players. This comes after he averaged 18.0 points, 7.8 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.8 steals for the Boston Celtics in Orlando action.

In perhaps the most significant category, Olynyk tied top pick Victor Oladipo (Orlando Magic) for the rookie who will have the best career. Both players garnered 18.2 percent of the votes, with C.J. McCollum (Portland Trail Blazers) coming in third with 15.2 percent.

Given the rookies’ outlook on Olynyk’s potential, it is no surprise he also ranked highly in Rookie of the Year projections. Oladipo and McCollum tied for first (24.2 percent) and Olynyk was right behind them with 18.2 percent.

In spite of these high regards, the voters believe not everyone is aware of Olynyk’s talent. He tied Ricky Ledo (Dallas Mavericks), Erik Murphy (Chicago Bulls) and Nerlens Noel (Philadelphia 76ers) for first place in the most overlooked rookie category.

This is not the first time a Celtics player has ranked first the survey. Last summer Fab Melo received the most votes for funniest rookie. He memorably broke a folding chair during the rookie photo shoot.
